Pre Classic Paralympians shine at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games

With Sunday’s electrifying closing ceremony at the Stade de France, the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games have officially come to an end.

Over 1,000 Para athletes competed across 164 medal events in Para athletics, the largest sport on the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games programme by participating athletes and number of medal events.

Eighteen medalists in this year’s Para athletics disciplines competed at The Prefontaine Classic in recent years, and fans likely recognized the names behind some of the standout performances at Stade de France. From Team USA’s Hunter Woodhall’s golden moment in the men’s 400m T62 final, to the Netherlands’ Marlene van Gansewinkel medaling in three women’s T64 finals, the number of extraordinary performances in the French capital was inspiring for generations around the world.
